Assessment | One individual formative assessment in Week 9 (online quiz) which students are required to take and pass (multiple attempts possible) at 50%+ to release the submission link for the summative assessment in Week 10. One individual summative assignment which will require the student to write a research proposal in anticipation of undertaking the MSc dissertation. This summative assessment (and therefore the 10 credit module) is marked on a Pass / Fail basis.

Aims and Objectives
This module aims to:
- Provide students with an understanding of both quantitative and qualitative research processes and associated techniques, including the effective presentation of findings in accordance with the best principles of scholarship.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this module, students will be able to:
- Appreciate the nature and application of selected statistical and quantitative methods;
- Appreciate the range of qualitative research methods;
- Be able to develop a research methodology for a given research problem
- Be able to undertake a research risk assessment including identification of management procedures
- Understand how to write a research proposal for their dissertation project.
