  1. Introduction to HCI research:
    • Big picture of HCI: Definition(s)
    • Key areas of research and practice (UX)
    • Lifecycle
    • Value of HCI
  2. Perspective and approaches to HCI:
    • Different frameworks/lenses
    • How these frameworks impact approaches to evaluation
  3. Systems’ goals vs Users’ goals:
    • Overview of types, aspects, and differences (e.g. user satisfaction vs system performance metrics)
    • Examples of the clash between system (business) and user goals (e.g. dark patterns)
  4. Human-centred system evaluation:
    • User studies design
    • Ethics
    • Instruments
    • Analysis
