Aims and Objectives
The objectives of the module are to:
- Understand how to build modern web applications using a range of common frameworks.
- Be able to design and deploy RESTful web services, natively and using containers.
- Be able to develop and maintain relational and NoSQL databases using object mappers.
- Be able to create user interfaces with common single-page frameworks.
- Be able to build a web application that includes two or more web services.

- Ability to create a web application using common frameworks.
- Familiarisation with native and container-based web application deployment strategies.
- Familiarisation with object mappers and code-first database implementation.
- Ability to design RESTful Web APIs to match user requirements.
- Familiarisation with web services architecture considerations.
Syllabus
- Creation of web services and microservices with modern software frameworks.
- Use of object mappers that are associated with the software frameworks.
- Web services authentication approaches and security considerations.
- Testing and deployment of web services.
- Generation of relational and NoSQL databases from web service data structures.
- Generation of user interface data model classes from web API definitions.
- Indirect and direct communication between web services.
- Software deployment strategies that are associated with web services.
